Autumn is here and there’s a cold breeze in the air which gives me the perfect excuse to shop and buy some warmer clothes for the upcoming winter months. And with this years Autumn stock being especially nice, I simply could not resist splashing out. Carry on reading to see what I bought on my shopping haul this week!

Grey Oversized Check Skirt from New Look – £19.99

358806104

It may be getting colder but that doesn’t mean we need to put our skirts away just yet as New Look have a collection of thicker winter skirts to keep us warm this autumn/winter. This check skirt is made from acrylic, polyester, wool, nylon, and viscose which all adds to keeping us warmer in these upcoming months. This grey check skirt is simple yet elegant, and is best worn with a black long sleeve crop top.

Black Aztec Jacquard Fray Hem Skirt from New Look – £19.99

351618709

I absolutely adore this skirt! It it not as thick as the grey check skirt but it still warmer than your average skirt. This is a slim fit skirt, however it falls casually and will look very sophisticated for both party or casual wear. This skirt is best worn with a plain black crop top to give it a classic finish.

John Zack Black Long Sleeve Lace Skater Dress from New Look – £35.00

358095501

This lace dress adds both elegance and sophistication and is perfect for a night out. This skater dress can be dressed up with accessories and a pair of black heels for a classy look. There is a zip detail at the back which make getting in and out of the dress easier.

I bought this dress for the Bram Stoker festival in Whitby for a gothic look but it is perfect for all formal occasions.

Black Contrast Snakeskin Stretch Belt from New Look – £3.99

This stretch belt is great for accessorizing with dresses and also helps define your waist and will make it appear smaller than it is. This belt is perfect for a casual fit dress such as this Black Print Tunic Dress.

Khaki Raglan Rib Jumper from Select – £10.99

Autumn/winter means one thing – it’s jumper weather. Khaki is all the range at the moment and I instantly fell in love with this gorgeous jumper from Select. This is a rib knit long sleeve jumper which looks great paired with jeggings and boots for a casual look.

I am all for staple pieces and this necklace from Primark is sure to draw attention to you. This is a large necklace so it is best worn with something simple and plain, such as a plain black dress.

Smiffys Mini Top Hat from eBay – £4.45

I’m off to watch ‘The Rocky Horror Show’ in February and it is tradition to dress up when watching the show. I really love this cute mini top hat and I think it will be perfect for the show. It will also be great to wear for the Bram Stoker festival I am attending at the end of this month. We all love to dress up, right?

New Look Haul

‘New Look’ is my all time favourite high street store. I seriously cannot get enough of the place. I spend literally all my spare cash here so it was no surprise that when I went shopping I bought a few amazing items in this store. Read on to see what I bought.

Navy Plain Jeggings

Navy Plain Jeggings from New Look

I have never been too sure on jeggings, until now. I never really got them; I mean are they leggings or are they jeans?! However, over the years my fashion sense has changed slightly and I barely ever wear jeans now but instead I opt for leggings. I know there’s a massive debate over whether leggings are in fact pants or not (I honestly think they are, as long as you can’t see your bum or knickers outline through it) but I wear them as pants anyway (although I do opt for patterned leggings rather than plain black) as I find jeans can be stiff and can cause chapped legs which is very painful and very uncomfortable. For me, jeans restrict my movement and I much prefer the stretchier, softer fabric of leggings so when I came across these navy jeggings on my shopping spree in New Look, I couldn’t resist any longer. Leggings that look like jeans, perfect right?!

New Look‘ jeggings come in several different colours but after some debate in the shop, I decided to go for this lush navy pair as I could dress it up with a fancy top and a nice pair of heels for a night out with the girls or I could pair it with a t-shirt and some trainers for a more casual look. I really struggle to find clothes to wear for a night around the town in the winter months as everything is either too casual or consist of small skirts or dresses – great if I want to catch pneumonia. These navy leggings however are both stylish and warm, which means I can look great and stay warm at the same time. I styled my navy jeggings with a lace crop top and a nice pair of heels for a party ready look.

Jeggings look exactly like denim jeans however they have an elasticated waist so unlike jeans, the waistband will not be digging in to you all night long. This means they are perfect to wear if you are planning on dining out; long gone are the days when you have to pop open your jeans button after indulging a little bit too much. If you’re like me and love anything skinny fit, these are perfect and the dark navy colour also gives off a lovely slimming look. These are ankle length jeggings and contain pocket details and a belt loop (perfect for accessorising). Jeggings are made up of 62% cotton, 36% polyester and 2% elastane so it is no surprise they are a much more comfier fit than jeans however once on, you would not be able to tell the difference.

I am so glad I have finally given in and bought my first pair of jeggings; they are much comfier than jeans and I can wear these with pretty much everything. The patterned leggings I often wear sometimes causes difficulty when trying to match them with certain t-shirts so these jeggings are a great alternative. Price: £14.99

Black Basic Jeggings

So I technically bought these black jeggings a few days after buying the navy pair but it was so close together, I am just going to include them all in to one haul. Again, these black jeggings are perfect for dressing up for a night out or you can opt to dress them down with a t-shirt and some trainers. I find that darker shades such as the navy and this black pair are great for a more dressy, sophisticated look. The black jeggings will also give you a lovely, slimming look. Dark coulours will also hide any stains so no need to worry if you have accidentally spilt a drink down yourself. I would match these with a dressy top and some heels for a party ready look or a t-shirt and trainers for a casual, day-to-day look.

Just like the navy pair, these look exactly like jeans but feel a lot comfier due to being made up mostly of cotton. They are a slim fit, with pocket detail and a belt loop. I love how jeggings can be worn for day or night wear; it really is simple to dress these jeggings up or down depending on the occasion. Red Polaroid Girl Roll Sleeve T-Shirt

As soon as I lay my eyes on this t-shirt, I fell in love with it. Although this top is labelled as red, it is a much deeper red than you would initially think and I would probably class this as a ‘deep red’ or ‘burgundy’ colour. It is a lovely winter colour and looks great paired with jeggings and some pumps (I opt for Vans). I really love the polaroid style to this t-shirt too! This is one of my favourite buys from New Look recently and is perfect for casual days. Price: £7.99

Owl Pendant Necklace

I have looked everywhere on the online store and for some reason, this necklace is no longer listed. I am not sure whether that means they do no longer sell this item or whether it is just not on the online store so you guys are going to have to keep a look out in store if you want to buy this item. I was walking past the jewellery stand and this necklace caught my eye; it is quite a large colourful pendant that falls around the waistline. I love the vibrant colours and this is bound to brighten up any outfit. I usually throw this on when I am going for a night out as I find it gives my outfit a little bit more quirkiness. I am in love with this necklace at the moment and I can see myself getting a lot of use out of it. Price: £5.99
